General Services

Apart from the borrowing facilities, the following are some of the many services extended by the library:

Reference & Information Services :

The Reference Section contains the important research and reference tools such as Dictionaries, Encyclopaedais, Atlases, Data Manuals, Handbooks in addition to the books on core engineering subjects. Users can contact us for any reference-related queries. We will help you in locating the information you need, provide help in using the online catalog etc.

Resource Sharing and Inter-Library Loan :

Any student from ACCMI Institutes may approach the library of the other Institutes in their vicinity for his / her book requirement.

For instance, a student of XIE – Mahim residing in IC Colony – Borivali, would gain access to the library of SFIT and vice-versa or to the one of his/her choice. If the desired book is available, the lending library would allow the student to borrow it for reference only and make notes if required. The student, however, will not be permitted to carry the book outside the library.

The Resource Sharing facility would definitely maximize the intended utilization of all the libraries. Also, every student will benefit by way of access to a variety of resources and that too within his / her reach.

LIRC provides inter-library loan (ILL) service to our users for those books that may not be available in our collection. The demand for such requested books/ titles are accepted from a bonafide student or faculty member.

Little Free Library:
The Little Free Library works on the principle of fondness for books and reading. It is a voluntary activity supported by generous donors - both by SFITians and non-SFITians. Donated books are segregated for Book Bank, Special and Rare Books Collection, Children and Young Fiction, Little Free Library and Book Exhibits during our regular Reading Inspiration Day. There are no late fees for books borrowed from the Little Free Library. You can bring back the same book you read, or put in a new one.
